In most families the son or daughter takes over the family business and helps it prosper, but Andy Tyika didn’t want anything to do with being in the auto body business.
“I didn’t want to be in the shadow of my dad,” Andy states. “I wanted to create my own success, like my dad did.” Tom, Andy’s father and Debbie Tyika founded Tom & Ed’s Autobody in 1983, and now has 3 separate locations in northern Indiana. Andy is the first person in his family to go to college and he received a degree in public management and marketing. After words he owned an indoor theme park that produced over $15 million in annual revenue. When he started to settle down in Indianapolis, he found out that his father was going to sell the family business. Then he quit his job, sold the house, and came back to his hometown to help out the family business.
